New Delhi: Australian fast bowler Brett Lee is not impressed with the umpire referral system currently on trial in the ongoing Test series between India and Sri Lanka.
The Australian, who is currently in the Capital for a promotional event, said umpiring was better left the way it has been over the years, with limited help of technology.
Lee didn't have any kind words to say on the review system in place, as it is reducing the job of the on-field umpire to only referring decisions.
"I like the human element involved in umpiring. Otherwise, why not stick a robot onto the ground?" Lee said on Monday.
"It (television referrals) is only good making run-out and stumping decisions, but when it comes to lbws, I prefer the on-field umpires to take a call. Most of the time they get it right," Lee pointed out.
