New Delhi: Wasim Akram may have given up playing cricket, but his humour is as sharp and nippy as his bowling used to be.
At a press conference here on Tuesday to unveil the T20 World Cup trophy, the former Pakistan captain had the audience in splits with his many one-liners including one directed at fellow ESPN STAR Sports commentator Alan Wilkins when he said "(Hosts) England have been under pressure for the last 15 years."
The response came after Wilkins commented about how the Asian population in England will keep the pressure on India, Pakistan and Bangladesh during the Twenty20 World Cup.
During the Q & A session, Akram was asked whether he would - like the other retired cricketers - want to play in Twenty20 Cricket.
Pat came the reply, "I haven't bowled in five years. If I take the ball now, the leg umpire better watch out because it will be coming his way.
"But having said I would have enjoyed T20. I would have bowled two overs with the new ball, two overs with the old ball and come in to bat and whacked it; that's how I batted in Tests as well," he said as the audience had a good laugh.
But Akram, known for his late swing, saved the best for the last when he was asked about why Afridi doesn't listen to anyone.
"I could never change him in 10 years and he won't change in the next 100 years," he said.
