Pandit to be India coach at U-19 World Cup

Mumbai: Former India stumper Chandrakant Pandit is all set to be the coach of the India squad which would be defending its title in the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup scheduled in New Zealand from January 15-30.
The 48-year-old Mumbai-born Pandit played five Tests and 36 ODIs between 1986 and 1992 and is currently the Director of the Mumbai Cricket Association's Indoor Academy at its Bandra Kurla Complex ground.
The Indian squad is to proceed to South Africa ahead of the junior World Cup from the middle of December to fine tune their game for the important event.
The holders are placed in Group A with England, Afghanistan and Hong Kong and would open the defense of their title on the opening day (January 15) at Christchurch against Afghanistan.
India play their other preliminary group matches against Hong Kong on January 17 and England on January 20 at the Bert Sutcliff Oval in Christchurch.
The other groups are:
Group B: South Africa, Australia, Ireland, USA (based in Queenstown)
Group C: New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, Canada (Napier)
Group D: Pakistan, Bangladesh, West Indies, Papua New Guinea (Palmerston North).
