Mumbai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is considering raising the payments of match officials, umpires and referees.
According to Dubai-based sources, discussions are likely to take place in this week's Chief Executive Committee meeting where the policy for payment will be debated and if it is favoured will be implemented soon.
Considering the payments received by international cricketers for all matches and matches played outside FTP (Future Tours Programme), the umpires and match referees hardly get any recognition. Even their services are also not being appreciated as compared to players.
The ICC is yet to decide on the Umpire Referral System which was placed between the recent Sri Lanka and India Test series. All match officials are set to attend a three-day seminar in Dubai on Septemeber 23, 24 and 25 where the pros and cons of the issue is scheduled to be deliberated and put before the decision making body.
