Ponting 'disappointed' with Buchanan switch

London: With just five days left for the Ashes, Australian captain Ricky Ponting again made it clear that he is not happy with John Buchanan's decision to join the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as an adviser.

"I just hope I don't see him with an England jumper on. That will be a little bit disappointing," Ponting said.

But they are still good friends despite differing on the way Andrew Symonds was treated by Cricket Australia (CA).

Buchanan, however, has denied that his presence will brighten England's chances of winning the Ashes and is backing Ponting to make up for the 2005 loss on English soil.

"He (Ponting) is determined to turn the tables for (the defeat in England in) 2005. When he led Australia in the past two Ashes, he was surrounded by good lieutenants, but he is now ready to take the captaincy issue forward and move from a consultative style to one of more direct leadership," Buchanan said.
