Mumbai: Saurashtra's middle order batting mainstay Cheteshwar Pujara wants to utilise the chance when he plays against Rahul Dravid's Karnataka team in the Ranji Trophy quarter final here from December 26 to pick the batting great's brains and get useful tips.
"I am looking forward to have a chat with Rahul Dravid whenever I get the opportunity. I have a few questions up my sleeve to ask him, that includes a query about the major difference between domestic and international cricket," Pujara said at the Brabourne Stadium here on Wednesday.
Pujara, whose exploits of scoring two triple hundreds in the C K Nayudu under 22 tournament and another in the Ranji Trophy tie against Orissa this season have drawn national attention, said what he admired most about Dravid was his iron-clad technique and determination.
"He's a perfect batsman and is so technically correct. And he's such a determined cricketer, traits I admire most in him," said Pujara who has been awarded a central contract by the Cricket Board this season.
The India 'A' player, who was among the thirty probables for the 2007 World Cup, said he had interacted with Dravid in the past at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and when the two played on opposite sides in the Ranji Trophy tie at Rajkot two years ago.
"He told me to keep scoring well. I want to talk to him about (mental) preparation and what I need to do to improve my batting," he said.
Pujara said instead of brooding over not getting an India call up, he preferred to keep performing. "I am young. If I keep performing I will get a chance (to play for India)," he said optimistically.
