Siddle is a lot like McGrath: Kasprowicz

New Delhi: Australia may not have the bowling quality of years gone by in their line up, but in young Peter Siddle, the ICC's Emerging Player of the Year, they have a star in the making. Speaking to CNN-IBN, former Aussie fast bowler Michael Kasprowicz says Siddle has the tools to carry the burden.

Michael Kasprowicz: Peter Siddle's game-plan is good. It's simple and in many ways it's a lot like Glenn McGrath's. He comes in and hits a good length from the start. He doesn't do too much to swing the ball and keeps it simple. These are the kind of skills that work very well in India. After looking at the Indian bowling, I think Ishant Sharma was done very well in the series.

But one player who has done exceptionally well in the past 12 months is Mitchell Johnson. Not just in terms of the impact he is able to achieve but he is the man that Ricky Ponting has gone to provide that impact for the wicket.

CNN-IBN: How much of an impact has the non-stop cricket and the Champions League has had an impact on Brett Lee and Australia's preparations here?

Michael Kasprowicz: I think that's the way modern cricket is. Training is no where what it used to be when we were playing. Now more time is spent playing. It's all about maintenance as a fast bowler to keep fit. We have seen in the past teams which rotate fast bowlers in the past and employ the fitness trainers to come in more in the recovery role.

CNN-IBN: What's your score-line at the end of the series?

Michael Kasprowicz: As a patriotic Australian, I am backing Australia to win but what we have seen in the series is exceptional cricket; MS Dhoni's innings in particular. From Australia's point of view, Mike Hussey was under pressure to perform and he has certainly stepped up.

I am looking forward to some cricket. I am sure we are guaranteed of that. I can see it from the commentary box; so I am really looking forward to watching it.
