Karachi: Former Pakistan Test cricketer Aamer Sohail on Friday played down reports of a growing rift with fellow Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) director Wasim Bari.

Sohail, currently serving as director of the National Cricket Acadeny, was served with a show-cause notice by Bari, a former Pakistan Test wicket-keeper who is working as the board's director for human resource.

Bari had asked Sohail to explain why he skipped a development course of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in London last month.

However, Sohail said he doesn't have to explain anything as he had skipped the course with the permission of Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman.

Sohail skipped the ICC course as his wife was ill and sent his sub-ordinate Ali Zia for the London assignment.
