Sachin Tendulkar, during his brief innings of 13, became the highest run-scorer on Indian soil, taking his run-aggregate to 5,069 at an average of 54.50, including 16 centuries and 21 fifties in 64 Tests. He thus surpassed Sunil Gavaskar's tally of 5,067 runs at an average of 50.16 in 65 Tests.

The wicket of MS Dhoni was Michael Clarke’s 17th in Test cricket. Interestingly 11 of them have come against India alone. He has the figures of 6 for 9 (at Mumbai in 2004-05), 3 for 5 (at Sydney in 2007-08),1 for 39 (at Adelaide in 2007-08) and 1 for 35 in this game.
Harbhajan Singh (54) registerd his first fifty on Indian soil.His previous highest in India was 42 against Australia at Bangalore in 2004-05.
The 24 byes conceded by Brad Haddin are the maximum by any Australian keeper in India. The previous record was on the name of Adam Gilchrist who conceded 19 byes in first innings of Chennai Test in 2000-01.
