Bangalore: Michael Hussey (146) scored his ninth Test century - his second against India after his unbeaten 145 at Sydney in January this year.

- Hussey's nine centuries have come in just 43 innings – a century in every 4.78 innings on an average. Among all batsmen who have scored at least five centuries in a Test career, only three batsmen – Australia's Don Bradman (2.76), England's CAG Russell (3.60) and West Indian George Headley (4.00) – have better innings per hundred ratio.

- At the end of his innings, Hussey's batting average in Test cricket is 70.60. Among all batsmen who have played at least 25 innings, Hussey is second only to Don Bradman.

- Anil Kumble conceded 129 runs without taking a single wicket. This was the 56th time when Kumble conceded 100 or more runs in a Test innings - a new world record. He was earlier at level with Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan with 55 such instances.

- Kumble is the only bowler in Test cricket to concede 100 runs or more in an innings without taking a single wicket on six occasions - twice against Australia (0-126 in first innings of Sydney Test in 1999-00) and once each against South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies and Sri Lanka. England's Chris Lewis and Andrew Caddick share the second place with 4 such instances.

- Kumble has now conceded 100 runs in an innings on 14 occasions against Australia - most such instances by a bowler against Australia. England's Tom Richardson had achieved this dubious distinction on 12 occasions.

- Zaheer Khan (5-91) captured his first five-wicket haul in a Test on Indian soil. His previous best performance in India was 4 for 41 against West Indies at Mumbai Wankhede in 2002-03.

- Zaheer's figures are the best by an Indian pacer against Australia at Bangalore, eclipsing Karsan Ghavri's 2-68 in 1979-80.

- The pair of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag has now become India's third most prolific opening pair. At the end of second day's play, the Gambhir-Sehwag pair has added 1501 runs in 26 innings at an average of 60.04 which takes it ahead of Gavaskar-Srikkanth pair (1469 runs in 34 innings). Now only Chetan Chauhan and Sunil Gavaskar (3010 in 59 innings, avg 53.75) and Anshuman Gaekwad and Sunil Gavaskar (1,722 in 49, avg 35.88) are ahead of this pair.
