South Africa’s total of 211 (for 5) is their highest in Twenty20 internationals, beating 208 for 2 against West Indies at Johannesburg in 2007-08.

The above total is also the highest total in a Twenty20 International on England soil, bettering West Indies’ 208-8 against England at the Oval in 2007.

AB de Villiers’ innings of 79 not out (off 34 balls) is the highest by any batsman against Scotland, obliterating Pakistan’s Younis Khan’s 41 at Durban in 2007-08.

De Villiers’ scoring-rate of 232.35 is the highest by a South African batsman in an innings of 25 or more. Albie Morkel had achieved a scoring-rate of 215.00 during his innings of 43 (off 20 balls) against England at Cape Town in 2007-08.

De Villiers took just 25 balls to race to his fifty- the fastest fifty by a South African batsman in T20 Internationals. The previous record was held by Loots Bosman who took 27 balls to complete his fifty against Pakistan at Johannesburg in 2006-07.

De Villiers, by hitting six sixes, equalled South African existing record of most sixes in a match. Justin Kemp had also hit six sixes against New Zealand at Durban in 2007-08.

51.85 per cent of Scotland’s runs came from Kyle Coetzer’s bat. This is the second highest contribution by any batsman in an allout innings in all T20 Internationals. JP Duminy had contributed 60% of South Africa’s total (78 in 130) against Australia at Melbourne in 2008-09.

As many as six Scotland batsmen got out bowled – a new record of most dismissals in this fashion. The previous record was of five batsmen ‘bowled’ – achieved on three separate occasions.

The victory margin of 130 runs is the second highest in all Twenty20 Internationals after Sri Lanka’s 172-run win over Kenya at Johannesburg in 2007-08. Incidentally South Africa’s previous biggest defeat was by 19 runs against England at Cape Town in 2007-08.
