New Delhi: If reports are to be believed, senior members in the Indian dressing room are planning to rebut coach Greg Chappell's allegations with some stern steps of their own.

According to a report in Tuesday's edition of The Hindu newspaper, the players are keen to set up a meeting with BCCI President Sharad Pawar to make their case.

It has been a week since the players came back from the Carribean, and now the senior players are planning to meet Board officials to present their side of the picture before the Board meets the team management and former captains this weekend.

The paper goes on to say that Sachin Tendulkar is being pressurised to take a stand on behalf of the seniors who are likely to seek a meeting with Board President Sharad Pawar.

The players have apparently admitted to a complete lack of communication with coach Greg Chappell and according to The Hindu, Tendulkar has not been on talking terms with the coach and most of the other players have chosen the same path.

In fact, the paper quotes a senior player as saying, "He has destroyed the confidence of the team and made everyone insecure. He has been a great player but does it mean he has the right to make others feel small?"

But it isn't just the players who are up in arms against Chappell. An unnamed national selector is quoted by the paper angrily saying, "How can he accuse anyone of not giving him the team he wanted? He has had all cooperation from us and it is not fair to say that one player not being there made the difference. Please check the record of the player he so badly wanted."

Senior players have also taken offence to Chappell's remarks that they blocked the path of youngsters. A senior player is quoted as saying, "If I can't ensure my own selection how can I influence someone else's inclusion?"

It's becoming clearer with each passing day that relations between Chappell and the Indian team have reached a point of no return.
