New Delhi: ICC President David Morgan has hinted that Test cricket may be in for some big changes.

In an interview to the India Today magazine, Morgan said that Test cricket could be reduced to four days instead of five. Morgan also said he would be "very surprised" if significant changes aren't made to Test cricket over the next year.

"I would be very surprised if within a year you haven't seen some significant changes in Test match cricket," Morgan told senior journalist Sharda Urga. "I think in a year's time you will see for yourself changes that have occurred in Test match cricket."

Also on the radar of the ICC is a two-tier system and day-night Test matches to ensure crowds don't dump the traditional game in favour of Twenty20 cricket.

Morgan also said that the volume of Twenty20 cricket at the international level will stay low despite the overwhelming success of the two editions of the ICC World T20.

"There is a limitation of seven T20 internationals in any one year and I would be reluctant to see that being increased, by any large amount," Morgan said, adding: "It was "initially designed as a means of enriching domestic cricket."

Morgan was averse to the idea of doing away with 50-over cricket and keep only the T20 and Test formats for international cricket. He said the introduction of the batting powerplays and indeed the T20 game had enriched the 50-over game, and the standards are rising significantly.

Citing the example of India's one-day series in England in which India won the sixth game of the seven-match series in a dramatic game, Morgan said, "It provided a whole day's entertainment as opposed to requiring two T20 matches to provide the same duration of entertainment."
