Colombo: At a time when Sri Lanka were gasping for breath at 133 for six, it was Thilan Thushara, who along with Jehan Mubarak (47 not out off 55 balls) came to the team's rescue with an outstanding unbeaten 94-run stand off just 78 balls.
In an able company of Mubarak, Thushara launched an all-out attack against the Indian bowlers to not only guide his side to a competitive total of 227-6 in 50 overs but also give some them respectability to the hosts, who were playing for consolation win, having lost the five-match series already.
Thushara's 46-ball unbeaten 54, studded with six boundaries ultimately proved to be the turning point of the match and helped Sri Lanka reduce the losing margin by 2-3.
This left-arm seamer's innings also came as much of a delight to the Lankan spectators, who had been witnessing a top and middle-order batting slump of their team almost since the start of the ODI series.
