Under-fire Prior wants to return to India

London: A few of his team-mates may have developed cold feet but England wicketkeeper Matt Prior is willing to return to India for next week's Test series as he is desperate to hold on to his place in the national side.

Already under fire for his lacklustre show in the one-day series, Prior does not want to lose his spot in the side by pulling out of the two-Test series, the fate of which is yet to be decided as the England Cricket Board is awaiting a report on the security arrangements at the two venues — Chennai and Mohali.

"He takes the view that he's a professional cricketer and it's his job to go back with the team. He's discussed it with both Sussex and his family and along as he gets the right assurances, he'll return," Prior's agent Andy Smith told BBC Southern Counties Radio.

"The mere fact of being out of the team last year has made him think how badly he wants to be England's wicketkeeper. Despite the results that were had out in India in the one-dayers, he actually performed really well behind the stumps and he doesn't want to miss out on any opportunity to prove he's England's number one," he added.
