Wellington: Kiwi skipper Daniel Vettori, welcoming BCCI's request for an extra Test during India's tour to New Zealand, has said he was very excited about playing a three-match Test series against one of the best sides in the world (India).

"I'm pretty excited. I think most players have been crying out for that third Test match style series," Vettori has been quoted as saying in the media on Tuesday.

"It gives an opportunity for one team to win the series and probably makes it a little bit more interesting. The fact it's India and the fact they're one of the best teams in the world at the moment, I think everyone would love to make it happen," he added.

"I'm not sure if logistically it can happen but if it's do-able, I'd love to see it happen," Vettori said.

The Indians are due to play two Test matches, five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 international apart from a tour match during their tour of New Zealand in March. However, the Indian cricket board has made an official proposal to NZC for an extra Test match,.

Earlier, New Zealand coach Andy Moles had also welcomed the request by the BCCI.
