Mumbai: Former Indian seamer and the present bowling coach Ventakesh Prasad was all praise for off-spinner Harbhajan Singh’s fine showing (ten wickets in the match) at Galle and stressed that when the Punjab star gets his rhythm right, he is unplayable.
"Harbhajan is a very hard worker. He was bowling and bowling, trying hard to find his rhythm. Gradually, he found it and gained in confidence here. When he is in rhythm, he is unplayable," Prasad has been quoted as saying in the Mid-Day on Tuesday.
"He had been through a lot in recent months and it is great to see him overcome all that and perform so well. He put lot of thought into his bowling. Most of his wickets were well planned out and came as a result of variations," Prasad added.
"The wicket was offering turn but it was slow turn. You had to vary things to be successful. The key was to be patient and consistent. Despite the mauling he got at the SSC in the first Test, I knew he would comeback strongly. The thing I most admire about him is his never-say-die spirit. He has once again proved that here," the former India seamer.
With his fine performance, Harbhajan, not only seems to have overcome the slap-gate controversy and the subsequent ban, but has given hopes of an overseas Test series win after the two teams are tied 1-all in the three-match series with the third and final Test slated to start from Friday.
