Mumbai: India batsman Yuvraj Singh, who is struggling with a wrist injury that ruled him out of the home series against South Africa, has been asked by the BCCI to see a specialist in Australia.

"The BCCI has asked Yuvraj to go to Melbourne in for consultation. But I don't know whether he has departed," BCCI's chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty said on Monday.

The Punjab batsman informed on his Twitter page that he's off to Australia for treatment after India's victory over South Africa last night in the first ODI at Jaipur.

"Great stuff India! Am off to Australia for treatment -- bye Guys," he wrote on Twitter.

Yuvraj suffered a ligament tear on his left wrist during the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka late last month and has not played since then.

Shetty, however, couldn't say which particular specialist doctor Yuvraj was to consult in Australia.

Shetty was also reluctant to comment on media reports quoting New Zealand Cricket (NZC) CEO Justin Vaughan that Australia and New Zealand have been kept as standby to host the 2011 World Cup if the terror threat in the sub-continent is found too high.

"You have to ask Vaughan," said Shetty, who is also the tournament director of cricket's showpiece event to be hosted jointly by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in February-March next year.

"You can not move the timing of the tournament, in March-April, so really there's only Australia, New Zealand and South Africa who could host it," Vaughan had earlier told stuff.co.nz.
