New Delhi: India's bowling spearhead Zaheer Khan has been charged with dissent for his unruly send-off of Matthew Hayden on the fourth day of the second Test in Mohali, which India won by 320 runs.

Match referee Chris Broad charged the fast bowler with a level 2 offence, which means Zaheer faces a potential 50-100 per cent fine on his match fee or a one-Test or two-ODI ban.

Zaheer will appear before the match referee for an ICC Code of Conduct hearing.

The incident occurred when Harbhajan Singh dismissed Hayden and Zaheer Khan walked up to the outgoing batsman making gestures, which prompted the Australian batsman to complain to umpire Rudi Koertzen.
