Australia have won the dramatic second Test match of the Border-Gavaskar series to take a 2-0 lead. With this victory Australia have also equaled their own record of 16 straight Test wins. In an event filled day, the home team emerged victorious to retain the trophy. Anil Kumble's resilience defied Australia's bid for their record win but Clarke's late burst of three wickets in an over turned the game for the home team. The extra ordinary performance by both teams is the prime reason for Test cricket to be regarded as the toughest of all forms. Aggressive cricket, high drama, pressure, courage, fight and grit - the Sydney Test had all the ingredients to make it one of the most closely fought encounters in recent times.
