The biggest battle Down Under comes to an end as the final Test match results in a draw. India declared the innings at 269-7 but the play was called off. Australia have retained the trophy as the home team wins by 2-1 margin. Poor umpiring, selection dilemmas, close contests, racism charges, exceptional batting by the tail-enders and a few surprising wickets by the part-timers - the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has witnessed it all. However this also marks the last game for India's big five together in Australia. Curtains also come down on a terrific career of Adam Gilchrist. The 'all-rounder' made his way back amidst standing ovation and he was congratulated by the entire Indian team. Virender Sehwag played a knock in the second innings completely in contrast to his flamboyant nature. His patient 151 acted as a roadblock between Australia and their third victory of the series. Sachin Tendulkar has been named Man of the Match for his classy 153 in the first innings. The big prize of Man of the Series goes to Brett Lee for picking up 24 wickets in the tournament and contributing with the bat in the first game. Australia have been tested once again on their home soil by India and the bitter memories of Sydney Test will hover the Indian team for a long time. Michael Clarke had exclaimed 'We want to win for Gilly' after the stylish all-rounder and the wicketkeeper with most dismissals Adam Gilchrist announced his retirement. However, that scenario is less likely as the fourth and final Test seems to be heading for a draw. India are 210-4 and have a lead 173 runs at Tea. The post lunch session was rather a dull one with the visitors blocking most of the deliveries and scoring just 64 runs from 25 overs . VVS Laxman failed in probably his final innings in Australia getting out to Brett Lee for 12. Will India declare in the final session and have a go at the Aussies. Can Australia produce another fascinating innings like they did against England in their last game at Adelaide? We will find it out in the last session.

The first session on the final day has been a gripping contest between the two sides. India managed 97 runs from 24 overs and they lead by 105 runs. Australia held the edge early on as they created pressure through Lee and Clark. The overnight Indian batsman Dravid found it difficult to score and at one stage the visitors had just managed just six runs from 8 overs. A short one by Brett Lee struck Dravid on his finger, forcing him to retire hurt. Australia sensed an opportunity but Sachin and Sehwag pulled the game back in India's favour with some quick scoring. The duo put up a solid partnership of 50 runs within no time. Sehwag, who did bulk of the scoring this morning brought up his first second-innings and the fastest century of the series. A needless run-out towards the end brought an early end to Sachin's innings as the visitors made their way back into the game. Ganguly is unbeaten on 9 with Sehwag on 103.

Just when everything was going smoothly for India, they have lost a needless wicket in the form of a run out.

Rahul Dravid walks off the ground and Sachin walks in amidst loud cheers. Australia haven't exactly got the big fish but but this can be a big turning point. Dravid tried gripping the bat but he could not and decided to head back.  

Gloster is back again and it looks Dravid is in pain.  

Dravid has been struck on his finger and the Indian physio John Gloster is in the middle. Dravid however, will continue batting.  

Lee starts with a maiden. Clark will bowl from the other end.  

Brett Lee will bowl the first over and Sehwag will take strike. This day is very important not only from the series' point of view but for veterans like Gilchrist, who will not be seen again in Baggy Green and the Indian seniors like Kumble, Dravid and Ganguly who are playing Test cricket in Australia for the last time.

Australia are in the driver's seat after overhauling India's score and managing a lead of 37 runs. They also managed to dismiss Pathan cheaply to put the pressure back on India. Ponting, Clarke were the stars of the day with superb centuries to put Australia in a commanding position. India has to bat out of their skin to save this match as Australia is going all out for a win and give Gilchrist an ideal farewell gift. India finish the day at 45-1 with a lead of 8 runs. Dravid and Sehwag are at the crease for India.

Welcome to Day 4 of the highly enthralling fourth test between India and Australia from the Adelaide Oval. Ishant Sharma to start proceedings. Adam Gilchrist playing his last test match is yet to come out to bat. Will he come up with another scorcher in his last test? He announced his retirement on Day 3.  

It has been a gripping day of cricket with some strong batting and bowling performance. The final session produced 97 runs from 33 overs for Australia with a loss of one wicket. The home team trails by 204 runs. Ricky Ponting (79*) for the first time in the series has played an innings of his character and looks set for his first century in the tournament. Michael Clarke ably partnered his mentor playing a similar innings of 37. Irfan Pathan was rewarded for a good spell and he trapped Hussey for 22. Australia have been made to battle hard for their runs. However, India would have hoped for a couple of wickets more to exert pressure on the home team. Anil Kumble prolonged the decision to use the second new ball and persisted with the worn-out ball.
