India beats Australia by eight runs in the 4th ODI and reduces Australia's lead to 2-1 in this 7-match ODI series. India came out on the top in this nail-biting contest. Chasing a big total like 292 would not have been an easy task, but the Australian batsmen had other ideas. The Australian openers got their team off to a flier. Hayden then combined with Ponting to put on quick 85 runs on the board. Hayden continued from where he left in the last game as he smashed the Indian bowlers to all parts of the corner before getting out for a superb run-a-ball knock of 92 runs. Hayden also added 58 runs with Symonds before he was dismissed by Murali Kartik. India then started building pressure on the World Champions by keeping things tight in the middle. Tendulkar then combined with Yuvraj Singh to add 83 runs for the 2nd wicket before Hopes striked to send Yuvraj back to the pavilion. Tendulkar struggled in the beginning against Lee but then settled well to play an excellent innings of 79 runs before he was run out.
