Suresh Raina was declared the Man of the Match for his fine innings of 84 from 69 balls that made the Pakistan total of 300 always seem within reach. He proved a worthy partner to Sehwag and despite the loss of the first wicket did not let the run rate get the better of the Indians. India top 'Pool A' and go into Round Two of the Asia Cup brimming with confidence.
300 seemed a daunting task and with the odds against them everyone wondered whether India would win or falter. Gambhir's wicket early in the innings again put India on the backfoot early but it was the record-breaking 198-run partnership by Sehwag (who notched up a fine century) and Raina (who almost made another successive century) that put India back in the driver's seat. They never lost momentum from thereon and maintained that right through the end. Good cameos by Yuvraj (48) and Dhoni (26*) ensured India get to 300 with 47 balls to spare, another record in the making.
This is the quickest win for India chasing 300 runs.
