It was always on the cards that New Zealand would win this test match comfortably. Bangladesh did surprise the Kiwi's by batting well in the second innings. A good opening partnership by the debutants Zunaed Siddique and Tamim Iqbal who scored 74 and 84 respectively. The New Zealanders came out with a plan and wrapped up the Bangladeshi innings needing just 35 runs to win. Vettori leading from the front ending with figures of 4/70. New Zealand won the match by 9 wickets and take a 1-0 lead in this two test series. Jacob Oram pockets the Man of the Match award.
