Sri Lanka beat India by an innings and 239 runs. All thanks to the pitch which was mainly in favour of the hosts. On the first day the pitch supported the Lankans on which they scored 600 runs very easily. But when India came out to bat it seemed like India were batting on a fifth day wicket. It had nothing in it for the pacers. It was a purely spin wicket on which the Lankan spinners took 19 out of the 20 wickets falling. The pace bowlers were only used to depreciate the shine of the ball. Overall a one sided affair in which the Lankan tigers were victorious. Many contenders for the Man of the Match award but it was Muralidaran who bagged it for the 19th time with a match haul of 11-110. Thank you for being with us through out our coverage of the match.
